Canon VS Nikon: What is better?

While each of these brands has their own loyal fan base and both Canon and Nikon are equally world-famous, those who have found a recent love for photography and would like to purchase a digital SLR don’t know any better. So what brand is better, Canon or Nikon? Canon and Nikon have been bitter rivals for many decades now. Each has their own quality products to boast of and both brands are multi-billion dollar companies that produce world class optics for thousands, even millions of consumers. To establish which of these equally good brands is better is even more difficult because if one is really a better brand than the other, one of them would have gone out of business a long time ago, or we wouldn’t have to ask which is better in the first place. nikon_d40These two brands such big rivalries that when one of them introduces a digital SLR for a particular niche, you won’t be surprised if the other one introduces their own version within months. Every year they are neck to neck in competition, when Canon has the edge over Nikon for this year, Nikon is sure to leapfrog over Canon the next year-none of them wins as much as none of them loses that it pretty much becomes an unending cycle.
Nobody could really say which brand is better. If a consumer chooses a Canon digital SLR and is happy with it, it doesn’t mean that Canon is the better brand overall, even if that particular user thinks so. It all really depends on the digital SLR that caters to an individual’s needs-as every camera has altogether different features. One might find a specific feature to be extremely useful, but it may not matter as much to someone else. Because of this, Canon is better in some ways, while Nikon, in other ways. One example would be system compatibility. Canon cameras are compatible with Nikon lenses, but Nikon cameras can’t use Canon lenses. Canon_5dAnother thing is about delivery of new products. Nikon announces new products months before they’re available, while Canon only announces their new products when they’re already available. Small things like these could mean nothing to one person, but could mean so much to another.
In the end, what it basically boils down to is nobody could really answer which is a better brand between Canon and Nikon. They both produce digital SLRs equally advanced and top of the line. One Canon digital SLR may be attractive because it is packed with features, but once this camera becomes obsolete, you may find the new Nikon camera to be better this time.
