The only way it is criticized might be in terms of its price, its heavy weight, and it complications in setting the menu, which can always be managed through practice.  Like some digital SLR cameras, it still has limited control over video shooting compared to the still shots. The LCD screen being outside light is also a setback that creates some trouble in full screen view.
The ability of Canon EOS-1D Mark IV digital SLR to put copyrighted information directly to the picture and in built microphone helps to keep audio data attached to every moment attached gives it quite an edge in professional photography. Though its ability to capture 1080p HD video at 30, 25 and 24fps is considered a disadvantage by many, its compatibility with PAL and NTSC gives it quite an edge to the other comparable digital SLR cameras.
