Nikon D300S Digital SLR
Nikon D300S Digital SLR
An upgrade of D300, the Nikon D300S digital series has a better shooting capability compared to its predecessor. Also, Nikon added a second card slot which is very useful to those who are always on the go. This shows that Nikon basically improved the flexibility of D300 in making the D300S. With regards to image quality, Nikon D300 S DSLR contains a 12 megapixel sensor, making the images more reliable, cleaner, and of higher quality compared to other digital camera in the market. The JPEG images are highly configurable, and the processing from RAW is much easier and provides better results in D300S.
The image quality at virtually all the ISO settings of Nikon D300S digital SLR is pretty competitive, providing dependable images even at low lighting. The high ISO performance is superb, and the noise reduction is impressive. Just like the other D3 series, D300S has a very flexible Auto ISO function and has a fast frame speed. With a rate of 7 frames per second continuous shooting, Nikon D300S can keep up with the other high-end digital SLRs today. And with battery grip, the frame speed can even be up to 8 frames per second. The subject tracking of the AF system is excellent, as well as the 720p video output it can deliver.
On the outside, Nikon D300S has very good ergonomics, showing well-placed buttons and featuring a comfortable hand grip. The camera has a body made up of magnesium combined with the environmental sealing, making it withstand extreme weather and accidents. The view finder of D400s has 100% coverage, which is large and bright just like the others in the D3 series. Also, the switch among stills mode, live view, and movie mode is very easy for the user. There is an external microphone socket for better audio quality. Highlights and boosting shadows are protected by the sophisticated Active D-Lighting feature.
Just like other Nikon digital SLRs, a tiny problem with D300S is the low quality white balance during artificial light. Also, at certain conditions when the contrast is too high, the images tend to be slightly overexposed. However, this can be easily configured through the ISO settings.
The Nikon D300 S digital SLR may not be the standard bearer of its manufacturer; nevertheless, it is still worth the consideration of photographers. The product is still excellent when it comes to ISO performance and video recording, and its drawbacks can be configured through changing the settings.
