Pentax K-7 Digital SLR
Pentax K-7 Digital SLR
Pentax has re-emerged into the photography surface with a whole lot of promise and performance with their K-7 digital SLR, making the devoted Pentax fan base rejoice. The K-7 digital SLR could be considered as the defining moment for Pentax, whose array of digital SLRs have long been underrated since the analog era. But this time, the introduction of the K-7 digital SLR has brought the company back into the competition as photographers start to take notice of the new Pentax creation-full of enhancements and upgrades that challenge to meet the needs of photographers from all disciplines.
The first noticeable feature about the Pentax K-7 digital SLR is its look-ruggedly handsome, sleek and elegant, compared to the bulky frame of its predecessor, the K20D digital SLR. Constructed with Magnesium Alloy and paneled with rubber, the K-7 digital SLR is built to photograph in the most extreme conditions-it is weather, dust and cold resistant. To top this, it is lightweight and an easy grip. Though the megapixel count stays the same as its predecessor, everything else important has been revised or improved. The K-7 digital SLR has a rather large 3-inch high resolution VGA LCD screen, a revised viewfinder which is less magnified but has more coverage, a faster continuous shooting up to 5.2 frames per second, an enhanced live view mode, a 100,000 cycle shutter life, a 100-6,400 range in ISO, an illumination lamp, a new shutter mechanism with 1/8000th shutter speed, a dust removal technology, plus a long battery life.
Well, if this semi-pro digital SLR sounds too good to be true, what then is the catch? No camera is perfect, even the ones that the pros claim to be the best need improvements one way or another. In the case of the K-7 digital SLR, some imperfections that experts have noticed are its HD video quality’s inconsistency, its rather complicated interface, its production of very large video files, its lack of live AF while using movie recording feature, its risk of being underexposed when using outdoor lighting, and its menu graphics that need much improvement. To top these off, the K-7 digital SLR makes a little more noise that any photographer would usually prefer.
Other than that, the Pentax fan base is happy with their new baby-what matters is that the K-7 digital SLR delivers. It gives an incredible RAW image quality, it has an advanced interface and most importantly, it can be used with ease. Any photographer can battle any landscape and weather condition with the Pentax K-7 digital SLR.
